Anyone know how I can change the length of time before I get disconnected? I'm guessing it's an option you can change but I've looked and can't find anything that'll let me change it. It's driving my whole family crazy!

You can change the "disconnect through inactivity" time (my pc checks for new emails every 4 minutes, to stop me disconnected if I don't do anything for 5 mins) but unfortunately, the two hour disconnection that ntl have is something you'll have to live with, until you change your ISP.

im on freeserve and it does the same thing, if i can get on it at the mo tho, its mega busy between 7 and 10 again and im gettin soooo annoyed.........

Erm (looks sheepish) you can blame me for that. I work at Dixons and we have to promote Freeserve like it was the dogs bollocks or something. Hence it is mega busy.

im on BT internet and it auto cuts me off every 2 hours. sometimes not even 2 hours. sometimes every 1/2 hour that does my head in. especially when ur talking on ICQ with a random and u get off...and you can't get back to them as u didn't ask for their auth first hand...sucks...

worse of all...when im downloading songs from napster...near 100% the stupid comp gets d/c and i have to get the whole song again from the start...

i think im right in saying that all major ISPs cut you off after a certain period (normally 2hrs) to give others the chance to log in. Im with BTinternet and that cuts you off between 1hr 50 and 2hrs 30.

Something I can live with as i can always re-connect first time 90% of the time, if not, the 2nd or 3rd time.

ahem...I have a lovely highspeed cable connection which never cuts me off. ever. at all. unless someone pulls the plug on the server. in which case i get very pissed off. so nah <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/tongue.gif">
