so while we're in one ... anyone recommend any other sites that cater for students? and what do you think about them? waste of web space?

Virginstudent.co.uk (I think) is okay. Has content provided by the various student unions on what's happening (it's not comprehensive, though!) Also has online diary, address book, email and disk storage (which you can share). These are cool ideas for folks who have to use different machines all the time (possibly even different Internet services) as students tend to.

Added bonus for me was, when I signed up I got a free Cinema ticket. (Gladiator for free, not a bad deal).

Don't know if I'd recommend using this sort of service. I can see it being very useful, if you make a point of using it, and a waste of time/space if it's only one of many that you use.

I found a really helpful site, written by students called unofficial-guides.com.

It is great, and gives all the social info. etc. that is so lacking in the university prosepectuses (sp?) Go to it!
