I LOVE to play computer games, they are the things that keep me sane in this crazy world! My faves of all time have to be (top 5) are:
1) Time Crisis 2
2) Final Fantasy 8
3) Resident Evil Nemisis or Veronica
4) Sonic and Knuckles (come on, you remember)
5) Tekken 3
I have lots more but these are the first ones that came into my head
Lastly, what do you think will win the big console war between Sega, PlayStation 2, Game cube (Nintendo) or Microsoft's X-Box?

Yeah, Final fantasy 8 was the best! Zell was my fave character!
I enjoyed Tekken 3 until my brother sold it, I haven't played your other games.
I love the Resident evil series on the playstation, have u tried silent hill? it's really cool.
I like my gameboy colour as well, I know it's sad but pokemon has to be one of the best games for that format. Shanghai pocket and zelda are good too.

My brother likes (on the playstation 2);
1, silent scope
2, GT 2000
3, RR5
4, wild wild racing
5, SSX
6, FIFA 2001
7, the get away
8, dead or alive 2
9, stepping selection
10, TTT
11, unreal tournament
12, fantavision
I personally have 2 all time favourites:
Frogger on the BBC Micro B which used to keep me entertained for hours as a kid (and am still partial to the occasional game).
Also the game that has keeping me going is Rainbow six, despite looking a bit old compared to other games of it's genre still a totally awesome game. Who'd have thought a book could make such great game ?

Good to hear from someone that has fond memories of the Micro B
I Don't remember Bolderdash ... but most of the games on the Micro B were pretty much the same.. but still rocked.
certainly the best way of writing basic, leading to VB and (boo) Microsoft.

Anyone remember Elite? or the text adventure - Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy (long live pocket fluff).

I think I had a copy of Elite. I could never get into it though, but it looked good on the shelf `cos it came in a video casette box as opposed to a little tape box.
For anyone who doesn`t know (kids these days....) Elite was a space trading game, where you bought an sold interglactic cargo. And shot things. Oh, and it had the graphics of VRibbon, only in those days it was really pushing the machine to its limits.
You must be nearly as old as me tommytom, how old are you (not that it really matters).

Hey J9, this might sound like a stupid question! But I used to play on Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy before we got this PC, I loved the game but I always got stressed because I always either got run over by the bulldozer, or the house collapsed and a brick killed me and stuff like that!! Even though we haven't got the game anymore I would really like to know if you ever got past that part and how did you?! I hope we're talking about the same game. I hope I know what I'm talking about really this might not make any sense AT ALL!
PS Up until a couple of years ago I didn't even know that Hitch Hikers Guide etc were books! How bad is that?! LoL

Computer evolution goes Acorn Electron (still rocks) Amiga 500, Amiga 1200, PC. Just realised how bland that last genre sounds..........

Well, Elisa, you got stuck at the beginning ! Did you take the analgesic? Very important, almost as important as reading the mail, and you should never throw away pocket or satchel fluff. Gawd, now I'm going to have to search the internet to see if I can still finish the game!!!
There were some really really annoying bits later on in the game, like two hours in, which depend on what you did right at the beginning like keeping the pocket fluff and feeding the dog (if you don't feed the dog...well... I shouldn't really tell you lol).
Does anyone still have a copy they could email me. Pleeeeease

Well if I can remember rightly,I used to take the analgesic, to get rid of the hangover thing, then potter around the bedroom for a bit (LoL) then go downstairs, read the mail and there was one saying that the house was going to be bulldozed, then I used to go outside and the bulldozer would be there! If I went round to the garden the house collapsed and a brick hit me, I couldnt go into the path of the bulldozer, and if I went to the pub or something I still got killed! Can you get that game for the PC? That would be wicked if you could! If you get a copy J9, send it to me please!! PS I have no idea where the dog came in I never even met a dog.

Hmmm, I seem to remember having to lie down in froms of the bulldozer, but I can't remember whether you stay there, or get up on the third warning. I'm just gonna have to get the game aren't I lol. I used to play it on the PC (an 8086!!!)

My first console was the ZX Spectrum. I used to love space invaders and Kenny Dalgliesh soccer manager. Them were the days when it took an hour to load a game and you'd hear all the screeching and whining from the tape recorder and it would crash and you'd have to start again. My fave game for the last 3 or 4 years has been championship manager and command and conquer.

I used to play Elite with my DAD, He'd handle tactical (keyboard), I'd do the flying and firing (stick). There would usually be some debate over trading.
I once played 36 hours straight.

i had an acorn electron too! i couldnt find anyone that i know who had one. they were so great! i was a big fan of repton too. i cant remember too much about it, although i used to get scared on repton around the world with the rickshaw thing! god knows why, i was only 5! after that we had a bbcb very briefly and then an amiga 500 which became my fave, most definitely. bubble bobble - great game, cant find it to make it work on the pc at all! got the theme tune though, wish my mobile let me choose the ring tone! and rainbow islands, but i hated that spider at the first level boss, im an arachnophobic and it was an evil bastard of a spider! skidmarx was cool, played that at my friend's a lot and beat her bro! i cant remember them all.. god that was like 10 years ago! (im only 18).. but amigas were definitely the best. oh and duck tales or whatever it was called, we had a marathon at another friend's house one summer, all we did was play duck tales and convert cardboard boxes into dens! hehe... good old days. there were so many hundreds of cool games for the amiga. been thinking of getting one recetly, but it would take ages to build up collection of games, especially as not as many have them now for swapping! also got nowhere to put it. sorry for rambling, i got excited when i found this thread and had to talk about my amiga!!

Blade is a good game!!! Anyone played it yet?

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.
My fave's are Homeworld, Half-Life, and Quake II multiplayer for a simple fragfest.
Someone mentioned Metal Gear Solid - it was damn good, but I reckon it drew quite a few of its ideas from a mixture of the better PC games existing at the time (e.g. MDK and Half-Life). Not really knocking it though.
BTW, someone on here liked BBC Basic? Acorn Basic 5,6,7(?) on the Archimedes and later machines was even better. Integrated really nicely with the OS, well thought out and easy to learn, all control structures except OO and functional stuff too. Of course, Acorn was dying by then...

acorn (bbc updates) were always shite! nothing could ever beat the amiga.. they got too popular and then there was too much piracy.. the only reason why the pc's didnt go down was due to the microsoft con! btw, windows is shit! but its univeral now.. also mac's are shit as well!!!

oh yeah, (i got carried away there! hehehe) my favorite has to be monkey island.. and also the pinball games on the amiga (pinball dreams, etc...)

J9 u tarring anyone who remembers the BBC with the slimey "old" brush.lol you forget i'm a whippersnapper, and have fond memerories on the micro b, especially of elite, frogger and Colditz adventure, I remember when i was about 11 I played colditz adventure, and with all text instruction rpg I couldn't resist tell it to "F**K a duck" it's reply was "I don't know how to F**K a duck" lol.
Seriously The Beeb rocks, I learnt to program on it at the age of 6. but plase don't tell the people at work or they'll want me to become a comercial programmer <yawn> boring...

At the mo the PS2has just pushed the dreamcast out of the picture and games like Virtua Fighter 4 are instead of being Dreamcast exclusives, being PS2 exclusives instead. And THAT ROCKS!!!!

Games are only really relevant to each specific console. On the Nes I loved Mario 3, and Gauntlet wjile for some reason Mega Drive streets of rage and Kid cameolion of all things were excellent.
But my favourite game ever would have to be Final Fantasy 7 with Metal Gear solid , Grand Turisimo, Goldeneye and Deus Ex close behind. The emotions and memories these games provoke is increadible *wipes tear!* sigh.

This game is going back a few decades so I don't know if you'll remember it..
My favourite game when I was young was this game called 'Digdug', it had really cheesy music and was in the style of a pac-man type thing were you ran around and ate things getting chased, I had it on a 386 pc but when we upgraded it to a 486 the computer was too strong, it wouldn't work and I lost the game forever..
I recently found a website online where you could download it from... utter class
