I am very hesitantly applying to a volunteer thing in New York and will quickly send it off tomorrow morning before I get a chance to change my mind! It is for the month of August and involves taking adults with learning difficulties on trips round the area. I think it would be really good and I will see what happens with my app.! It has to be better than spending the summer here at any rate!

Hows the money situation work, do you get paid a wage or just expenses, where do you stay?

No wage, it is voluntary, but you stay in hotels and youth hostels and eat in restaurants (paid for).

Sounds good if you don't mind not seeing family, friends and boyfriend for a while, it'll look great on your CV and you get to help other people, everyones a winner!

It's only for 4 weeks, I would rather do that than be here. I will wait and see anyway, if I don't get my uni place I will need to be at home for clearing

Where is this volunteering thing? In NYC itself or outside of the city?
Good to see that people our age still care enough to help others.
(not me, though. I'd do it for the free trip )
