When I was 16 I was working at a chemist (inc. selling over the counter stuff) and got paid 2.04 an hour. Now that was crap.

I don't think there is one for 15 year olds and I think that it's £3 for 16 year olds.

i think there SHOULD be a minimum wage for 15 and 16 year olds.... but there's not, unless im very much mistaken. afaik, its only for 18 and 21 year olds. i dont even know that off hand, but you can probably find it in a link on this page somewhere.
if you're not getting paid the minimum wage and you're 18 or 21 (or over, clearly) then you should def see your boss or their superior.

There is no minimum wage for under 18s.
£3 for 16 year olds - HA I wish. I get £2.50 an hour and I am 17.

Minimum wage has just gone up!
for under 18's they can pay you whatever pitance they like unfortunately.
then there is over 18's (cant remember)
and over 21's is £4.10 so that means over 18's must be about £3.80 ish

I get paid £2.50 an hour, but I don't care because I work with people I know and like, and they're always nice to me.
Theres no need to be smug about earning more money. I'd look for a better paid job, but I like my job. And its not like I'm desperate for money either. I get £30 a week from college, and I'm still living at home.

Theres no need to be smug about earning more money.
I wasn't being smug. I was just stating what I got.

It makes me sick that people get paid to go to college now. The year after I left, my college gave out free books and free holidays/educational trips to all students, plus £30 a week to eligible people. When I was there I got nothing, I couldn't afford books and didn't get a holiday. How is that fair?

i once personally gave Mo Mowlam a bollocking in front of a packed conference hall over why was there no minimum wage for under 18s? her response was that the govt had done some study and worked out that if they introduced one then loadza ppl would loose their jobs . . . . . . . . .

I get £30 a week, but I have to turn up to every lesson and get a sheet signed.
If I didn't get the money I would have had to stay at school and I hated it there.
