I don't think it is right that a 16/17 year old should be paid less for doing the same job as an over 18! Why should the pay be different if I do the same work (if not more) as an over 18? I think this is something the government should sort out!!!

Yeah, but I guess that an over 18 will have more important things to spend money on than a student does (in general, there are exceptions).
It's probably just the law. Something to do with the minimum wage?

Does it really matter whether or not a 16 or 17 year old has less important things to spend money on than an over 18? They do the same job so therefor should get the same wage.
I guess the only limiting factors should be experiece & qualifications (in that order)

LOL experience in stacking shelves? Not exactly brain surgery. I can understand what your saying but should that apply to a job stacking shelves? I've been working for booker for 2 years and the new starters that are 18 who do nothing and have no experience are on more than me

In that case, equal pay for an equal job, maybe you have a campaign here

I think everyone should get the same pay! I get paid £2 less than everyone else at my job and do exactly the same thing. When they moan that they're tired and and stuff and moan about their job, I always feel like saying well you can moan all you want, I'm doing this for 2 quid less than you LoL

I'm 17 and get paid £3.29 an hour for working in a cash & carry! It's an exhausting job too!!!! Especially if your on beers, catering or softdrinks!!! My wage goes up to about £4.20 when I'm 18.

I'm on about £8.33 and hour but it's a salary so difficult to work out. When I started this job 3 years ago I was on £2.77 an hour. Daft things is that I probably did more work back then than I do now!!!

I work for a games company and of all the people I know - they are salaried too. Thats the nature of the industry though isnt it..I would have thought that you would be doing more work now then you did at the beginning..what languages do you programme in?

I program in a little known language called magic.
and I do a hell of a lot less work now compared to when I started because I can get away with it now.

the reason i work less is because i'm not working my arse off for a payrise all the time.
i'm quite good at my job now so the boss wouldn't want to get rid of me which means i can get away with not doing 2 much. when i first started he could have easily replaced me with some1 else but now i have experience programming our system i'm indispecible (sp)
