Anyone got any good remedies for period pains and stuff? I always get really bad stomachache and headache and feel sick Usually I just take paracetamol and curl up in bed with a hot water bottle but its not working. I hate periods. Can you have an operation to make you stop having them? I'd have it.
( I know J9's going to suggest lavender oil for this one...hehe. What do I do with lavender oil then? )

You must be able to do something with tea-tree oil...i mean, it seems to solve every other problem. sorry j9..
and sorry elisa...this is serious. I dunno - it's not somethign i've ever had to experience, and i feel sorry for you girls out there. i guess painkillers are the best thing to take - if it really gets unbearable go see a doctor.

i find ibuprofen is better than paracetamol, and wouldnt be able to do without them for my period pains! yeah hot water bottles help.. someone said taht exercise does, its the last thing you feel like doing though! i find that since ive been on the pill theyve been an awful lot better though, so maybe it would be worthwhile considering that? apart from the obvious contraception advantage, it helps with period pains, and also you can take 3 packs at once and therefore only have 4 a yaer! gotta be worthwhile. it also helps with spots, ive had a lot less since being on the pill. and the only problems are a slight increased risk of breast cancer and high blood pressure, and blood clots and stuff. but as you're under 20 they're almost negligable, unless you have a family history of heart disease. and if you dotn smoke thats even better.
this is just one thing ive foudn helpful, not much else did that i found

I used to suffer from real bad period pain and its afull. I tried loads of stuff but nothing done anything for me untill I went to the docters and got prescribed Mefenamic acid (think thats the name). Its fantastic, its a strong pain killer and works wonders. Go to the docs and see if u can get any
well the book I've got (aromatherapy for women & children) says -
to 25mls of carrier oil (sweet almond oil is good, don't use a mineral oil like baby oil) add 15 drops of clary sage, 5 drops of chamomile (german or roman), 5 drops of geranium & 2 drops or rose (rose is extremely expensive, so unless you've got some anyway, I'd leave it out).
Massage over the lower back, solar plexus (whatever that is lol), tops of thighs, buttocks (calm down boys ) and abdomen. Do this approximately one week before you are due & for aproximately one week after. Unless the condition improves quickly, continue for several periods.
The book says that clary sage should not be used during pregnancy. Geranium should be avoided in cases of dermatitis & also in the first trimester of pregnancy.
Hope this helps, if you decide to use it Elisa (& anyone else who suffers).

hiya,
i have terribly painfull periods every period and it always lasts 4 2days non stop. i find takin nurofen every 4hrs, and never let the pain cum back, even if that means every 2 hrs, i know its prob stupid, but the pain is unbearable.
i tried goin on the pill, but i still got the pain and they were still as heavy. i also got little orange tablets from the doc, but they never touched me.
i was told to exercise, but it dont work, and it takes energy!
hope u find a solution, if u do please tell me!

I was gonna suggest mefenamic acid, the doctor prescribed me that years ago and the pain near enough stopped, the only problem was that because it's a strong anti-inflamitary your periods can become heavier. So I was not actually suited to it because it made me so heavy I had to have a blood transfusion
I went on the pill about 3 years ago and although I still get pain it's nowhere near as bad as it was, my periods are also lighter, regular and shorter than before.
Before I went on the pill my periods lasted for about 9 days, I had one ever 2-3 weeks and for the first 4 days i couldn't move with the pain.
If you are not on the pill why not go and see your doctor about it.
Other than that Nurofen plus are really good and swimming tends to releave the pain.

Thanks for all the advice...I'm not on the pill but i dont want to go on it because it makes you put on weight. I think I'll try nurofen and the herbal thing J9 suggested!
