I watched a program on sky1 the other night and it was all about breast-cancer awareness. It went through how to chech your breasts for lumps and said you should do it every 4-5 weeks. I realised that I have never even thought to check mine and so decided that I should. But when I checked I found a huge lumpy solid lump type thing deep inside my right breast. It doesn't move around and it's started to worry me. Thing is, I really don't wanna go to the doctor because he is a wanker (c reasons for this in my post "Itchy Scratchies")
What does everyone think I should do, has anyone here had a similar problem, where can I go to get it checked out instead of seeing my GP?

Isn't there a female doctor you can see?
I don't know how old you are, but it's natural for developing breats to be lumpy.
If there's breast cancer in your family then maybe it's an idea to get them checked out.
I'm not an expert, but some cancer maybe hereditary. Don't worry about it, a lot of women find lumps and get checked out with nothing to worry about. <IMG alt="image" alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/wink.gif">

BELIEVE...
You could find out if your GP practice has a well woman clinic.
Or you could look in the phone boon for the nearest family planning clinic.
Whatever you do DO IT NOW!!!!!
A friend of mine had a lump and found out that it was just a lymph npode, but you have to get it checked as soon as possible.
Promise me you'll ring tomorrow.

hey rachel... thats really serious
i've read somewhere that breast cancer usually starts off as a painless lump in ur chest area.
but don't get too worried... just make sure u see a doctor ASAP... coz risk levels at ur age (which i imagine is under 30) are much lower than risk for women over 40

I rang the doctors this morning and after rail-roading the receptionist into giving me an appointment to see the female doctor I got an appointment for wednesday afternoon. Fingers crossed it's just a gland or cyst.

Breast cancer at 19 is very very rare. Try not to worry. Even if it is cancer (which it isn't) it can be treated, normaly very succsessfully.
My grany is 80, and has just had cancer for the third time, as she's fine. Its nothing to worry about. Until Wednesday, I recommend you listen to the lighthouse family, that'd cheer up a corpse

The doctor had a good feel around and felt the lump that I had found then she found one in my other boob so she thinks it's probably swollen glands due to hormones. I've got to go back again in 2 weeks to see if they had gone down so fingers crossed.

just so u all know, it's a cyst in my right tit and i've gotta get it drained f it's still there in a month. the lump in my left tit keeps swelling up and going back down so we don't know what that is but if it's still there in a month i've gotta have a scan.

Well that sounds promising Rachael. I guess if it was just getting bigger as opposed to going up & down it would be more worrying?
Thanks for letting us know
