Osama's true goal?

What is Osama's true goal? Is it to destroy Christianity? To destroy the West? Or to remove our influence from the Middle East?

How would he destroy us? How could he destroy us?
Many people would say, destroy us? IMPOSSIBLE. However I believe he has a more sinister goal.

How could Osama bring the West to its knees? Anthrax, no. Chemical weapons? No, even nuclear weaponry? Nukes cannot destroy us either.

What is the one thing the west relies on more than any other? Food, water? It is getting to the point where we can manufacture it, so it isn't them. Is it air, will he contaminate it? We have ways of protecting ourselves.
What is the one thing, that if removed will bring the western nations to their knees, causing the collapse of our society....
OIL

Without oil, society as we know it would collapse, imagine the chaos of the fuel crisis a few months ago, now imagine what would happen if oil, and not petrol was stopped from flowing into this country? Life would simply stop. Without oil we have no electricity, meaning no communications, no intelligence, no defence. Without oil we have no petrol, no way of transporting food, pumping water or providing security. Sure a supplies could be almost completely obatined from the north sea, but what about the rest of the world? The USA relies almost entirely on imports of oil, as does most of Europe and Russia. Imagine the chaos as life in these great nations slowly grinds to a halt.

I belive Osama's goal is to bring us to our knees, not by war, or disease but by attrition, by sending us back to the stone age.

That is why we must do 2 things:
1.Remove all threats to our oil supplies and ensure its security for the forseeable future, and
2.Find alternative energy sources, and quickly.

I think that way too much importance is put on Oil. We in the UK have the north sea oil and the USA has VAST untapped oil fields in Alaska. I suspect that they are thinking in the long term when they buy arab oil.

Once the arab countries run out of oil or when the west stops buying arab oil then thats when the arab world turns into a world of shit. The only money they get is from oil. Islam doesnt work well with capitalism...You know that under Islamic law its illegal to give a loan and charge interest on it.

Without the US oil money the arab nations are never going to pull their economies out of the toilet. Its not as though the middle east is fertile farming land so if the governments over there ever bother with feeding their people then they are gonna be screwed.

If Bin Laden gets the west of of the middle east then he is signing the death warrant of millions of people and all he will do to the west is prevent the SUV crowd from picking their kids up in huge SUVs.

On the contrary I think we completely underestimate the importance of oil in our lives.
Look around, how many things can you see made of plastic, for those you need oil. Look at your lights, chances are they are fueld by an oil burning plant. Maybe the UK and USA do have large amounts of oil, but if we turned to them and used the solely how long do you think those supplies would last? Not long is the answer.
Yes the UK is self sufficient in oil, however that oil isn't of a sufficient quality to enable it to be converted into petrol, it is suitable only for the heavier tars and power plant grade fuels. That is why the government seriously needs to reinvest in alternative fuel sources, or to start stockpiling it in sufficient amounts so that even if home users don't have any, the government will.

I still think that the middle east would come out of the deal worse if the west stopped buying the oil.

The middle east would be worse off finacially, well the leaders would be anyway. But you've seen countries like Iran and Afghanistan, they have proven that countries in their situation can carry on without oil.

What my point is, that without oil, the nations of the West would slowly grind to a standstill. First motorists would be stopped from using cars, and fuel would be stockpiled for powerplants, emergency services and the military/government use. But that wouldn't last forever, eventually you would find that electricity would be stopped in certain areas at certain times of day, then all areas serviced by oil would be cut off completely. Without petrol the emergency services, including the police would be unable to cope. Then finally the nation would stop with all remaining fuel being earmarked for defence and military purposes.
Imagine the chaos that would ensue, then imagine that chaos in a country like the USA. It has been calculated that the USA consumes the energy from the equivalent of 5 nuclear powerstations, just leaving equipment in offices and homes on standby mode. Imagine the chaos as riots break out over petrol, with the police unable to do anything about it.
Now, imagine this chaos in every developed nation on earth that relies on oil from the middle east.

You are right, it is essential that we step up research into other forms of fuel, such as hydrogen, and hopefully nuclear fusion.
