I found out about this game which is referred to as the 'can game'.
Basically you and a (insane) friend hit a metal can over and over until the first person gives up. I have to say I can go for quite a long time.
Two nights in a row I have played this. My hand is now so bruised and cut up it's very difficult to bend it properly.
I don't really know why I play it. I kinda feel like I need and/or deserve the pain. There's no other way to describe it. It helps me kind of express how I'm feeling. I need to get things out some way and I guess I'd rather punch a can and hurt myself than hurt somebody else. I'd rather hurt myself than somebody else. Afterall I deserve it. Crying is something I've never been able to do. So this is how I express myself. The self-loathing kind of adds a factor of it too. Just another dimension you know? lol

I fucked my hand up so many times fightin and playing knuckles (and equally stupid game) you wouldn't believe it.

Get it checked out. Three times I've had to have k-wires put in my hand to stop finger rotation through smashing up up bones.

Hi PreciousAndLoveit,

Seems like this game is a way for you to express your emotions and the way you feel at the moment. It also sound's like you may need to seek some medical attention for your hand, as Skive has suggested - your GP perhaps?

You have spoke about 'needing' and 'deserving' the pain and that you feel 'self-loathing'. Have you ever thought about this being related to self-harm (http://www.thesite.org/healthandwellbeing/mentalhealth/selfharm)? You may find the information we have on it useful to look through - there is a lot of it, so do let us know if you want any specific links? But just looking through may help you to identify some of the things you are feeling at the moment?

What makes you say that you'd rather hurt yourself than someone else?

It's great that you have posted this thread and feel able to talk about this, keep posting and let us know how you get on -

Take care - :)

Thank you, but I don't think self-harm is the problem. It's not really an on-going thing. I just think that instead of lashing out on somebody else, I will contain it. If I really wanted to hit somebody I would think about doing it to myself and then would realise that's not the path I want to go down and stop it.
I'm not really sure how much sense this is making but it's not a serious problem.
Thank you for your concern though. P x

Just had a shower and the swelling has went right down. Got total movement back at least. Hopefully it'll be OK x
