Me and my bf are planning on going on holiday around the end of April when I qualify from uni, the only thing is we can't decie where to go..theres just too much choice :crazyeyes
We don't want something where you're just sat on a beach all day or round the hotel pool, we like to do all the touristy things and go sightseeing. We are only planning on going for a week, so somewhere that can provide enough entertainment for that long. We went to Ibiza last year and it was just rubbish I wasn't impressed!
Any suggestions would be muchly appreciated :)

Costa Brava is good - especially Tossa de Mar.
If you want a blackpool kind of experience, there is also Lloret de Mar, but it wasnt my cup of tea.

Rome is gorgeous. I love it. Go there.
April would be a good time, not toooo hot. There are lots and lots of wonderful things to see there too. It is a bit expensive and with the pound being rather shitey right now, will be more expensive than when I went in July, but it is spectacular.

I have been to Nice, very nice place, cheap flights too with Easyjet.
Its a bit expensive, but no more than UK I suppose.
The Algarve is also lovely, and is probably the same as the above.
How about Brussels, Ostend is nice, and I have heard good things about Bruges.

Don't be so rediculous. Whoever wants to holiday is such a place as Hull. Pft.
How about

Marrakech - its excellent and not too expensive and you can stay in some amazingly beautiful Riads - plus you can go to Essouria which is on the sea side for some beach action.
Or Tarifa in southern spain which is still cheapish dispite the euro going up - Nice is lurvely but having just come back from france its all getting pretty expensive these days - though i would also say that if you can drive hiring a car and going to St Tropez would be lovely - though April is a little out of season and not necessarily hot - i've been in May and its been cold enough to wear a jumper and a coat and in march and its been sun bathing weather so not necessarily that hot.

What about somewhere like Lucca? It's in Tuscany, and you can get to Pisa, Florence and Siena very easily from there. It's beautiful as well, a walled town. Fly to Pisa with EasyRyan (whichever, I don't remember), then get the train around the area - transport is VERY cheap. You're not so far from the coast that you can't get there easily either.

I never thought of Tuscany....I remeber watching Under The Tuscan sun and falling in love with it, it's a beautiful place. I think I will investigate Tuscany.
We were thinking about hiring a car while we were there as we can both drive so can take it in turns and we have a sat nav so that should be helpful, especially with my complete lack of direction

How about something completely different - the Altiplano de Granada in Andalucia. You can get cheap flights to Granada with RyanAir and no probs hiring a car. The weather should be lovely here when you want to come. There are loads of interesting things to see as well as quiet lakes for sun-bathing by, and Granada is just an hour away - and you could always stay in a cave house!. I know you posted this ages ago and it was bumped by some kind of shamless plugging BUT
What about Poland? I found flights to Krakow for about £4 and it's really cheap over there. PLUS they don't use the Euro which is a massive bonus!

This sounds amazing. Its even the number 1 thing to do on jet2's site (http://flights.jet2.com/almeria/almeria-top-10-guide.htm) Does anyone know how much it is to stay in a cave house? My friend did the same thing in Australia and said it was ace!! It's about time I tried it!!

4 quid! Are you serious? That's awesome. I've always heard of these 'super cheap euro flights', but I've never managed to find them. About 40 quid to Amsterdam was the best I could find.

Have you tried looking for "cave house for rent spain" or similar? You could also try "alojamientos granada" which should bring in Spanish cave houses (casas cueva) for holiday rents, of which there are a number. There's also a cave hotel or 2 in the Altiplano de Granada. Try "Al-Jatib".
Recommend staying in a cave as an experience. We have lived in a cave house in Baza, Granada for 3 years and love it!

venice
No no no no no. I seriously have no idea why people bang on about Venice. It's so crowded and it stinks. It's pretty sure, but I don't like going around the whole day with my nose held.
In mid-April, I would suggest Florence, Rome or Siena.

I loved Venice, it's one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in Europe. Definately lives up to the hype in my opinion.
I had heard about the bad smell aswell, but there was no bad smell when I was there.
It's only crowded if you go to the tourist hot spots, and I admit, they are crowded as fuck. Go exploring and discover the real Venice away from the crowds.
