Oh no!

I have a sore throat, can't keep the right temperature and my skin hurts all over. I feel so rough :(. I can't afford to take any time off work so I need to nip this in the bud! What can I do to stop me being ill!

I think I'll be going straight to bed when I get home from work and the puff pastry will be going in the bin! Whats STAT?

sounds like the flu, or a really bad cold. i suggest going to get some cough medicine, and maybe some herbal remedies. - go to pharmacy and ask. take paracetamol for high temp. drink plenty of water, make sure you eat, and put layers on to keep warm. also, don't do anything too strenuous... although i don't know what your job is, so that may not be possible, but just try to take it easy or you'll get worse. hope you feel better soon..

Ignore whatever you hear on medical dramas ;) If you're setting up a drip for instance, you have to figure out what rate you want it to drip at (my scientific jargon is great, no? :D ) In the chamber here http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/courses_vm551_crd/_archive/fluids/images/drip_chamber.JPG you would normally see the droplets going in, which would then flow down into the long line attached to the patient. 'Stat' means it's flowing at such a rate that you don't see any droplets, only a continuous line of fluid, but in order for that to happen, you have to put in a cannula wide enough

ETA: I hope you're feeling better soon! Rest, plenty of fluids and take the meds to keep your temperature down. Chicken soup and ice cream is optional, but recommended ;)

sounds like the flu.

Indeed it was, I was in bed by 3 o clock Monday afternoon and only just emerged today! Still feel like shit though, really disorientated and jelly-like. There was nothing I could do to stop it, although thankfully it went as quickly as it came on! Was really bad though, on Monday night I had three winter duvets on, winter pjamas, 2 pairs of socks and gloves and I was still shivering
