View Full Version : Do you think I could get a refund from Amazon for postage?

Om Thursday night after the order cut off time I ordered some bits and paid £3.95 or whatever for first class delivery. But they're not even dispatched yet, so I won't get them until at least tuesday. I may as well have ordered them super saver. I'm not that fussed about getting it a bit late - but I did pay extra when I was elligible for free delivery.

Or do you think the fact I ordered on thurs night (effectively friday morning 9am) means I don't any right to complain? surely it should have been dispatched already... we've had normal post today so I don't see why I couldn't have got a first class packet from amazon with a DVD in. Even if it wasn't delivered on sat, if it was in the RM postroom it would get delivered monday but it's not been taken out their warehouse yet. Bit of a disappointment for the money I've paid...

So came here for advice, is my complaint justified? Since I'm going to be getting it roughly the same time I would with free super saver delivery despite paying extra? Or will they just say they don't work on weekends?

(the delivery estimate is 9 April 2008 - 10 April 2008, so middle of next week :()

I would have expected dispatch friday evening, delivery sat or mon. BUT if it is saying 9th-10th it sounds like one of your items was not in stock for immediate dispatch. Did all your items say "in stock"?

Yep. They're dispatching from two different places, first bit: "Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.", second bit: "Sold by: Amazon's Jersey Merchant, Indigostarfish.com"

Just checked, they're all still in stock, saying they'll be dispatched on 7th. Not very happy.

Stuff from Indigostarfish will be slower.

"Delivery Time

Items purchased from Indigostarfish.com are dispatched individually and you should expect a delivery time of 2-3 business days. Jersey Post will effect delivery of the Goods into the UK postal system on your behalf.

Yea, I wouldn't mind so much, except that nothing has been dispatched yet despite paying a hefty premium (~10% of order) for 'express' delivery.

Well, I've sent a refund request kindly asking that since I believe I'm receiving a service equivalent to the free super saver, I'd like the express premium refunded. Worst they can say is no. They probably will say despite paying they can deliver up to 28 days or something. I didn't need the items urgently so I'm not going to throw up a faff - if I did it's my own fault for ordering near the weekend - but I did pay extra for quick service.

Technically you paid extra for quick delivery, not quick despatch.

Since the despatch terms for ordering from ISF are pretty clearly stated, I'm not convinced that you will get anything back. But Amazon can be ok about it. I doubt you would get an actual refund though, more likely to be a voucher for a future order.

Yea :) if not I won't be kicking up a fuss saying I'll take my custom elsewhere etc. etc. I just was a bit disappointed because I think it would have come the same time now as if I'd just gone with the free delivery!

Said they apologise, dispatch within 24 hours (which they didn't... but oh well), it's not next day delivery (I didn't say it was..) and that indigostarfish take 3-5 working days (missing the point unfortunately).

Said if I have any further questions raise another complaint. And you know what? I can't be bothered for the sake of £4. Somehow my order from jersey has dispatched at 7pm tonight after my email, but the one from amazon Eu SARL (whatever that is) hasn't. It's unusual for amazon, they're normally pretty prompt, I compared prices with play and they were both £40 so I went with Amazon as I thought they'd get it to me quicker :p. Then promptly get it to me relatively slowly.

I guess that's part and parcel with ordering from the internet though :)

well supersaver delivery could have been a lot slower. Ive had some SS deliveries that have been fairly quick but also some that have taken over a fortnight.
It is worth complaining though to see what they say

Yeah, I always use SS delivery on Amazon. It used to be really quick (a day or two) but in recent months it seems to be taking a couple of weeks. I wonder if they've started slowing down the SS delivery in order to promote the Amazon Prime service and more expensive delivery options :chin:

Theres an offer for free express delivery if you spend over £15 or is that only for books?

I got my jersey package today, still nothing from amazon UK. It was shipped yesterday apparently, instead of friday or saturday (the jersey package shipped saturday, so surely this one could too?)
