i earn on average about 8k a year after tax, monthly rent is about 250 and thats living with 3 students so i would also pay council tax, the place is rented from a private landlord, i've looked into the whole housing benfit but it just confuses me, i just would like to know if i would be elligable to recieve it

Have you looked on your council's webpage for a calculator. I think they all have them and they are the same rules everywhere.

^^ That's quite good. All i can say is put in for HB, if they say no, you're no worse off than you are now.
