No idea if this is the right forum or not.

Right, Aberdeen are playing Athletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon at the end of the month and it's pretty bloody hard to get an allocated away ticket (I'm relying on favours and mates camping out all night in Aberdeen on Friday night to be at the front of the queue)

So there's quite a few of us (possibly up to a thousand?) who're going to travel without tickets and try and get in at the home end (not all together obviously).

Do you think it's worthwhile? I've got transport booked (if not time off work yet), and there's really no way they can prove that I'm not an Athletico Madrid fan is there? Worst thing to do would be to get there then get knocked back because I'm not Spanish enough or do something stupid to arouse suspicion.

Anyone know what the local police/stewards are like around there?

my mate has followed Barca all around europe, mainly in champions league games and hardly ever has a ticket. always manages to get on the games in the end.

i'd say go for it!

I doubt they'd fill the ground, and even if they did you would still find tout tickets at not-too outrageous prices.

Atleti has an ultra group, Frente Atletico. Like always a bit of common sense is adviced. If you end up mixed amongst them you could get a slap. Any other part of the ground you'll be perfectly alright. In my experience stewards in Spain have never given much of a shit where do you end up going (if it's to a similar price zone).

Spanish coppers are not much different from other Continental coppers. Not too bad but if the riot police comes out they will give their batons some action. No reason why they should though, not unless there is some serious trouble, which is very unlikely.

All in all you should have a trouble free, enjoyable night. I've been to the Calderon as a Madrid fan and it was fine. Madrid has some of the best nightlife in Europe so you'll enjoy yourself plenty. Go for it.

Ah cheers guys, my mate queued from 5pm last night for tickets (didn't go on sale till 9am this morning) and managed to get us in the away end.

That lad is getting more than a few Spanish lagers bought for him :thumb:

I'd say give up football and start mountain biking. It's far better for you than watching football and you don't have to pay for tickets.

You don't have to pay for tickets, because there are no tickets as it's not a spectator sport!

As an activity it might be a litte bit better for you than football, but it's nowhere near as fun.
