I'm coming up to the end of my O2 - 12 month contract - no longer want to be with them eventually would like to move to 3 Mobile cos of the handy things like free use of Ebay and MSN Messenger on their mobile - but for the time being I got a 3 PAYG Sim card and phone my cousin gave me - and works fine - but 3 says on their site they'll top you up with £10 of credit if you port your number

Never ported a number before - anything I should take into account before doing do?

you just need to get the PAC code from O2 and give it to Three, shouldn't be an issue unless the sim card is old, might be worth checking with three to see if they'll port your number to an old sim card.

Basicaly ring o2 and say when your contract is soon to end, you would like your MAC Code, once you have got this from o2 phone 3 and tell them you have a Mac code and would like to change your number :)
