Charging iPod Mini

Now sure if the answer is the same for this as it is for the Nano so I started a new thread!
How long should it take to charge fully through the computer?
It used to take about 4 hours but it now it never seems to fully charge no matter how long I have it on for.

Ipod is being funny.

1. Does the Ipod show up in My computer?

2. If it DOES then right click it > Format

3. If it DONT Try a different USB Port

4. Repeat Step 2

My iPod mini just stopped charging one day, didn't even recognise it in My Computer or iTunes anymore, it just died. Thinking of getting a Nano but aren't they only 2GB? I need at least 4GB, if not more.
