what would you think of wearing a top like this http://www.topshop.com/wcsstore/TopShop//images/catalog/04E41PNEW_large.jpg
with leggings?
also has anyone seen the leggings (£3) in primark? spotted them a few days ago but didn't get a proper look.
After a few discussions with mates we have come to the conclusion that leggings are shit. They look pretty crap on everybody tbh.
The top is nice though! :thumb:

go for it i say. i think it'd look good. im getting in my positive opinion now before everyone starts saying 'ohh leggings they dont look good on anyone, they're shit, blah blah blah' :thumb:
although...i have that top (topshop riiight?) and i dont think its long enough to wear with leggings, haha.
ETA: i think i just got a bit mixed up, do you mean full on proper leggings? cos i was sort of meaning footless tights...i call them all the same thing. hmmm.

Agree with icey. Leggings never do any favours for anyone.
Jeans would look better cos the top's not bad.

i wear tops that just cover my bum with leggings. but they should be tops which are a bit flowy - not tight tshirt ones like in that pic.
and i think they look great on me! so there

I like the top, but Ive never seen leggings look OK on anyone unless they have REALLY stick thin legs. Thats not to say I didnt used to wear them in the past :o but I do now see the error of my ways.

I don't think that would look good with leggings unless you have buns of steel as they would be fully on display in all their lycra-clad glory! It's too short and, as lipsy said, it's a bit too fitted for that look.
It's a cute top, though :)

i think girls get it wrong when they wear tops which are too short. i have seen girls do this and even with buns of steel it just doesn't look good. you need to make sure the top at least covers your arse.

I guess you're right lipsy that even with a great arse you'd still probably end up looking like an extra from this video:

Tops should at least just cover your bum with leggins. And they shouldn't be fitted. I got a skull print top from Topshop the other day. It's long sleeved and flowly..and much nicer than that one!

Bought a lovely dress/long top/whatever they are called today and it looks gorge with them underneath. Thought I'd buy leggings rather than footless tights. Practically the same thing anyways.
I've been whinging about these for months and now I have a pair :yeees: The outfit looks cool though :D
Oh, and I don't think you need stick thin legs to be able to wear them. My legs are normal sized.
Oh and to the OP - I really like that top.

Got a real nice long top today from Internacionale. £6. Marl grey, V neck, puff sleeves, comes to mid thigh. Looks better with leggings but needs a belt.
Anyone seen any nice ones? To wear with black leggings, and leopard print pumps and above mentioned top.

Don't think you need to be stick thin but i think leggings have a nasty knack of making some people look broader in the beam than they usually are because of the way they are skintight. Suppose it's just one of those things. They suit some and not others, whether you're a size 8 or a 14. A young lass came in the pub wearing a pair under a long shirt the other night and she's lovely looking with a good figure but they made her look really muscled up and bigger than she is
However saying that i've bought myself a pair so with my horse riding thighs i'll probably end up looking like a russian shotputter :D

i seriously don't know how people with bigger legs can wear footless tights. i have 2 pairs and they're both really tight! i have slim legs but they leave marks around the bottom of my legs. they only come in 1 size fits all (well the ones i've bought anyway) so what to bigger legged people do? :eek2:

Sheesh. I just don't behave like a sheep as soon as something new comes out. Just because I don't buy something as quickly as other fashion victims, that doesn't make me "behind". I don't wear or buy things I don't think will suit me either.
I never liked them at first but have warmed to them. Realised they actually suited me when I tried them on in the shop with a long top after my friend suggested it. I thought they'd look awful but it turns out I was wrong.

it was just annoying that you slagged them off and NOW you're wearing it. if anything that makes you a "sheep" because everyone else is wearing them so it makes you want to. and don't patronise me sweetheart ;)

I didn't like them because I didn't think they'd suit ME. Out of pure chance I tried them on the other day. I didn't think I'd have the legs for them. Turns out I do and they looked rather nice. It doesn't mean I was wrong, it just means I didn't have enough confidence in myself.
I STILL think they look stupid on SOME girls tbh. I assumed they would on me too. I was wrong about that, fair enough.
I'm wearing them because I think they suit me, not because everyone else is wearing them. I tend to want to look like more of an individual rather than a clone.
Back to the topic now anyways. We've both made our point.

Not really. I'm not wearing them with a demin skirt and I've only seen people wear them with demin skirts here. Although, it does look nice on SOME people, for example, stephy and lucy off here, I don't think it looks nice on some girls.Maybe I will wear them with a demin skirt one day though and be hidden in the crowd :chin:
I won't look anything like everyone else tbh because I haven't seen anyone with my sort of top around here in Preston. Most people here wear footless tights with demin skirts, rather than long tops.
I won't be like the girls at uni. I won't be wearing them everyday like most of them seem to around here. I won't wear them everytime I go out either. I've only come to these assumptions because of what I've seen here, not because of what everyone has wrote on these boards.

Oh. My. God.
This reminds me of Primary 6 when I stamped my feet and went in a huff because somebody in my class saw the Power Rangers movie before me, even though I liked Power Rangers before he did.
There's nothing funnier seeing somebody walking about looking like an idiot in God knows what that totally doesn't suit them, when it's blatantly obvious they're only wearing it because some magazine told them that this would be the next big fashion thing.
There's nothing to say someone who started wearing something a year ago suits it any more than somebody who started wearing it a week ago :)

Uhh, I never once said you said you look better than she did.
My point was that just cause you see her as being "behind" and sneer at her ("pfft") doesn't mean shit - what's important to most normal people is they like what they wear and wear stuff that suits them, irrespective of how long you claim to have known all about it, or how long it's taken her to cotton on.
It's exactly the same mentality as me being about 10 and getting huffy because I liked to see myself as the first to like Power Rangers and didn't like it when other people started liking it too.

i was actually attempting to be nice/avoid an argument when i said she was behind. my actual point was that in previous threads she has laughed at leggings and slagged them off yet now she has gone out and bought some. then she implies i'm a sheep because i got them when they first came out.

In reply to Lucy's post - I've got proper little chunky legs and I wouldn't even dare put on a pair of leggings (unless I wanted to be laughed out of everywhere I went to!) My mate, however, went out on Saturday night wearing a fit grey tunic-type top from good old Topshop and some leggings, she looks spot on. She, however, has nice slim legs. ;)
To the OP - like everyone's said, the top is too short for leggings. It's a nice top, though! Topshop have got LOADS of long tunic tops in at the moment in shitloads of colours that look wicked with leggings. :)

Ok. Ok. Not sure what the point of this is but I think it needs to be said:
1. I am not a fashion victim. I LIKE LEGGINGS. I wore them the first time round, purple ones with the ankle straps underneath and some funky orange patterned ones =P
2. POSITIVES: They are nice to wear with boots and a skirt because they keep your legs warmer than actual tights.
3. I wear leg warmers as well and I don't see everyone else at uni wearing them = I have my own individual sense of style.
4. They're just clothes at the end of the day and it's just sad to think people can be defined so strongly about what they wear =]
Anyway, I saw some chav wearing footless tights in the my home town at the weekend and once these trends get to where I live [out in the sticks] it generally means they are well and truly OVER. ;)
