What's good for greasy hair? My hair's not bad once it's washed but the next day it can get a bit greasy and unsightly.
Anyone recommend anything?

It sounds stupid, but wash it less.
If you wash your hair too much then the scalp overcompensates for the lost oil, and makes you hair greasier.

Only use conditioner every 3 washes or so, otherwise you get build up. That's what my hairdresser told me anyway :)

You could try Hair Powder (http://www.hqhair.com/code/products.asp?PageID=298&SectionID=1412) in emergencies....

Violette what shampoo do you use? I've been looking for a greasy hair one
If I don't use conditioner I can't brush my hair after, its too thick and eughh. I try and keep it to the ends but all my hair is different lengths so its kind of hard!!
Anyone know of a cheaper hair powder that works well, that one is extortionate!!

try switching your shampoos and not using conditioner so much. doesn't tend to do grease-prone hair any favours. :)
also make sure you wash shampoo/conditioner out properly.
eta: oh and i've used shampoo for greasy hair before but i found they made it worse.

You really shouldn't wash it everyday, it's really bad for your hair as it strips the hair's natural oils
Try a shampoo for greasy hair. Most brands do them, even the likes of Pantene or Herbal Essence etc if you don't want to fork out for a good quality one.
And you should condition your hair, really. Just avoid placing the conditioner directly onto your scalp - the lengths and ends is all it needs.
For days when you don't wash your hair but it still looks greasy, that hair powder LadyJade recommended is fab - there's lots of different versions out there, too. Failing that, good ol' talcom powder does the same job :thumb:

Lee Stafford does one in a pink can, that's about £5 from Boots. Its quite good and smells really nice. Theres a cheaper one which is about £3/4 I think but I've only seen that in a few Boots stores, think its just called "dry shampoo" and comes in a green and white can, I've never used that one though.

Don't use shampoo at all. I havn't in years and both my hair and scalp are better for it. Give a week or two just washing with water and it starts looking after itself.

I use one by Sunsilk, it comes in a light blue bottle.

iv heard people say that you shouldnt use a shampoo for greasy hair cos its makes it worse! iv found it makes mine worse too whenever i've tried one.
make sure you rinse your hair really thoroughly to get the shampoo/conditioner out, although you're a boy so i suppose that doesnt really apply to you cos your hair would be short... and make sure whatever brush or comb you use is clean cos grease clings onto brushes!

My mate as Uni used to just douse her hair in talcum powder when it was getting greasy!! Disturbingly it used to work. She had gorgeous hair!

I do wash my hair, just without shampoo. Most shampoo is toxic because it contains SLS - a chemical degreaser which destroys all the natural oils in your hair an scalp. It can cause skin problems. Fuck that.

My hairs terrible. If i don't wash it every day it gets so greasy and lank. i use conditioner (just on the ends) as without it my hair is dry and knotty. Even without using conditioner though, the next day the grease is back. I tried shampoos for greasy hair, but they just stripped all the moisture out.

As someone else has said, the lee stafford dry shampoo is really good, but oddly he does another version which is exactly the same it's just called oily roots and is in a purple canister. As they are a fiver a go i normally get them from boots when it has a 3 for 2 offer on, which is quite often, sorted :thumb:

If you're ever about to go out, need to look good, find your hair greasy and you know washing it so soon before leaving will leave it that retarded fluffy way that's impossible to do anything with, put a little talcum in it. As retarded as it sounds, it works. Just don't like, make a habbit of telling people you do it.

it works a treat...only if you have blondish hair though.
If you use it on black hair, you might look grey.
brunettes use it at your own risk :p

That's why I said a little, the grease/oil/whatever you have in your hair currently usually gets absorbed by the talcum. Put too much on and there's nothing to absorb so it just sits there, like when you used to do those chemistry experiments in school when you found out how much of certain powders could disolve in certain liquids until eventually the powder just sat at the bottom.
Anyway eh, aye.

Still, since I stopped using shampoo my hair and scalp has been superb. Most male mates swear by it too. I havn't known anybody with long hair give it a go though.
