Codecs

I have tried both Riva Encoder & SUPER and they give me errors when encoding, but if I use the trial version of Total Video Converter it will encode without any problems and I am guessing maybe I need to install a codec? Already installed are:

AC3 Filter
MPEG2 Codec
FFDShow


p.s. I don't install codec packs any more, they break things rather than fixing.
