Another question about my new laptop (because I'm that useless)
My laptop has a CD and DVD rewriter drive (at least that's what it says everywhere). It came with it etc etc, but when I tried to make a DVD just it came up to ensure I had a CD/DVD rewrier installed and try again.
I checked in My Computer and it says the drive is working properly, but this program obviously thinks not (The program also came with the laptop, it's Windows Media Centre or something)
Anyone know what I can do or try to get it to work?!
are you sure it's not just a CD-RW which reads DVD's ? If it's a DVD writer it'll have markings like "DVD Multi recorder" or a rounded "RW" inversed on a curved rectangle.

Intel Celeron M 410 Processor 1.46GHz
533 MHz FSB
1 MB Cache
1024 MB RAM
60 GB Hard Drive
DVD ReWriter MultiDrive
15.4" Widescreen Display
Microsoft Windows Media Center
128MB UMA shared Graphics
1 year FREE warranty
It has a few random symbols on the drive as well which say it's a DVD RW.
Thing is, the option I clicked was to makea CD or DVD, and it didn't recognise the drive as either (CDRW or DVDRW)

Except it's not Windows Media Player I'm using, it's this new Media Center.
It doesn't seem to be recognised in the other programs I have for it either, but I don't know how to use them 100% so can't be sure....
ETA: This is a screen shot of the thing thats coming up (the black squares aren't there normally, I've just blanked out some pics that I don't think my family would want online)
Oh, so you can burn DVD's just not in windows media player?
No idea then :-)

I assume I can! Haha,I've only had the laptop a few days so haven't tried yet.
It isn't Windows Media PLAYER that I'm using though, it's two seperate programs as far as I can tell. It's the Media Center I'm trying to use, I can't figure out how to use any of the other programs I have on here to burn DVDs with.
Does Windows Media Player let you make DVDs (I know it does CD's)... I might try making a CD off that and see if that works... then progress to a DVD when I get home.

Right, it practically jumped at the chance to burn a CD in Windows Media Player, but not in the Media Center thing (why must Windows insist on giving me new things to play with?!). I haven't got a DVD with me to try it with, but does it sound like it's just this one crappy program?
