Bavarian restaurant

What would you order from the menu?

The meatloaf sounds lovely, but high on the stodge factor. My personal choice would be either that, or the pork escalope.

OMG I love Wiener Schnitzel - though i'm a little dissapointed they don't have any veal.

I'd go for the cheese thing to start (i'd reccomend the gulashsuppe but you dont' eat beef do you?) then some Schnitzel or chicken and Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte to finish.

let us know what its like i might well take the husband along as he loves that sort of thing.

I love German cuisine, apart from their unhealthy interest in asparagus. I like asparagus but it's not that special.

How do they do asparagus? Any way they can think of. There are special markets devoted to selling nothing but asparagus; they have dedicated asparagus menus in restaurants for all the many asparagus dishes you could choose. It's mental.

Well I had cheese noodles as I'm not a meat fan (sorry to disappoint) nice place though. Definitely take your Husband if he likes that kind of thing Wyetry - the costumes are great and it's supposed to be really lively in the evenings. Excellent choice of beer too.

you'll love it, but beware of the horse raddish! (if there's any on the menu) I had some in a bavarian place in munich, didnt know what it was, so ate a forkful... ouch!

For me, I'd have had goulaschsuppe, wienerschnitzel and apfelstrudel. Mit ein gross weissbier!

It wasn't so much noodles as macaroni cheese stodge. I tasted some and it was nice but couldn't have eaten the whole lot. Bit pricey for what essentially could be prepared by a pissed student at 3am. But it was better than my pretzel and vomit combination.

I spent quite alot of time in Bavaria and Austria so I grew to love their cuisine.
Yes, Wiener Schnitzel, Bratwurst mit Pommes, Curry-Wurst and Leberknödelsuppe are all delicious, and if you're REALLY lucky they might do Münchner Weisswurst which is a white sausage from Munich and traditionally comes in a jug of hot water, I was lucky to experience this at the famous Hofbrauhaus beer hall in Munich, they look a bit sick but trust me, they are gorgeous. You cannot eat the skin however and it is Bavarian tradition to suck the meat out of the skin but I just cut the skin off :lol:
For pudding there are many gorgeous pastries and cakes, my favourites are Weisse Nürnberger Lebkuchen which is basically almond flavoured gingerbread and Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte (Black Forest Gateau) even though this isn't originally from Bavaria but is from the Black Forest which is in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Oh and of course there are the amazing german beers, traditionally Bavarian beer is made from wheat (Weissbier) and is stronger and tastes nice :yum:
