i just bought a portable headphone amp of ebay from hong-kong and read th guys feedback and the item is described as being very good, however when i use mine it works great for about a minute at the most then the volume goes right down on it and when i go to turn it back up to the level i had it at it starts to crackle,

was wondering if anyone had any ideas what may cause this, i've tried this on my ipod shuffle and my laptop and the same thing happens both times

many thanks

You'll either have a leaky cap or an op-amp running with a reduced voltage, for whatever reason. Either get the soldering iron out, or return it for a replacement.

Google for Cmoy - it's a mega-popular headphone amp, and could well be the design that you've bought...

By the way - are you running really high-impedance headphones or something?

na the headphones are a pair of shure e5's....110 ohms, the spec sheet for the amp says anything from 30 to 300ohms would run fine
