swedes are BIGGER than turnips!

Technically they're both a variety of turnip, but if you go to a grocer and ask for a swede, you'll get the big one with orangey insides, whereas if you ask for a turnip you'll get the little one with white insides.

(both sets of grandparents had vegetable gardens, and they both grew turnips, but NOT swedes)

Tonight I'm off to formal hall in college, which is basically a cheap posh dinner, 3 course, silver service meal for £5.95. Only catch is I still can't sit down so will be looking silly dressed up smart and kneeling at the table but there we go. IIRC the menu is something like Leek and Potatoe Soup, Pork, Apple and Veg, followed by some kind of cheesecake, except it's obviously worded in a really posh manner.

That so annoys me at restaurants when they detail half the ingredients or write it in French to make it sound more impressive

Tender pieces of cod, in a white sauce with button mushrooms, onions and a potato topping - Yeah, Fish Pie.

Beouf et pomme de terre en croute avec pomme frites - Pie and Chips.

Leek and Potatoe soup is the one that really annoys me, it has some posh name which I can't remember but I'm sure someone will. It's Leek and Pot, so call it that!

Nah, there are a lot of lazy people who eat processed crap out there in Britain as well.

I don't eat it because a) it's expensive, b) it's bad for you and c) it tastes terrible compared to anything i could make myself.

Having said that, i do have a Lidl Lasagne in the fridge at the moment :)

Damn I didn't kill or pluck it myself so i've no idea how old it is er maybe I should braise then - but that means going to the faff of chopping it up because for some reason i really hate the idea of fully braised birds - in a a I can't believe they will taste nice kind of a way.
