View Full Version : Reasonable Time To Call
What time is your cut off to call someone on the phone?
For me I'd say 10:30pm is the very latest, usually won't call someone after 10pm.
Som guy I don't even know just called me and it's like 12:35pm :eek2:
He wanted to know when my next party is
Our latest at work is 9pm unless requested or its an emergency.

Depends who I'm calling, and what its about. I know that if I need to chat, even if it isn't life or death important and I just need a familiar voice, I can call my Mum at any time. I called her at about 2am a couple of weeks ago.
Generally though I won't call after 10pm unless they are expecting me to call.

Everyone who knows me knows that I'll only call at sensible times unless it's really important. Sensible times depend on the person I'm calling - would have to very important for me to be nudging midnight, so I guess 11pm would be my shut-off.
Have made calls at 4/5am before now. Went and collected my best friend who was proper stranded at 3am, despite starting work at 6am - it works both ways. :)

i wouldnt call someones landline after 10:30 in the week, about 11 at weekends.
Mobiles, anytime. Im usually pissed if i ring someone late, and to be fair if people dont want waking up they should turn their phone on silent

If it was just for a chat then I would feel bad about calling someone later than 10 at night.
If it was to a mobile then probably about 11/11.30 but i hate being woken when asleep so I tend not to call later than that.
It's a different story if I'm out on the piss though.
Them: "Hello?"
Me: "HEEEEEEEY!!!!"
Them: "ITS 3AM ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY!!!!"
Me: "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"
Etc.

Haha.
So true!
I end up always saying something totally embarrassing. Like "I really love you, you know that!? No, seriously"

Depends on how important it is. If somebody I know needed help or lift they'd be welcome to call anytime.

My mobile is on 24/7, but is always set to silent/vibrate. People know that I'm rarely asleep deep enough to not spot it. I couldn't not leave it on 24/7 - I'd hate to miss the final few minutes of a loved-ones life because I'd turned my phone off. For the same reason, I always have enough petrol in the bike to go 30 miles or so. :)

Wow. In a way that's quite weird but it's quite sweet actually.

Awww
My phone is on 24'7. It is almost always on silent though. As I go bed at a different time every night, its a bit hard to say what the cut off point is. Generally, if I'm awake, I'll answer.

That's just after mid-day, so that would be fine :p
I wouldn't normally call anyone after 10.

I got a phone call at 1am this morning, from a drunk college friend (who I wasn't even aware had my number!) Woke me up, but like people have said, it's my own fault for not putting it on silent.
I put it on silent, then the dog woke me up barking and I had 2 texts and 3 missed calls from an apparently drunk boyfriend.
I need to start going out, having a life and making these calls back to them..... :crying:

A mobile, probably up until midnight, a landline I wouldnt call after about 9.30pm, unless it's my parents/sister/best friend.

id be pissed off if someone called me after about 9 - 9.30 unless it was really important, and before 9am, but then again I go to bed early at the moment and dont sleep particularly well, or get back to sleep easily if woken.

Probably about 10. I dont mind its after that if its an emergency. My parents will always wake up to the phone so I can call them any time if I need to while out. Being phoned at half eleven by me ex because he want to go the casino was never on. Neither was texting me in the small hours of the morning.

Disagree.
Why should I put my phone on silent and risk being woken for an important call because some arsehole got drunk and couldn't control the urge to piss me off?

I keep my phone on all night in case someone rings me, and it's important. I tend not to ring people though, unless they know in advance that I'm ringing, after about 10. Unless I'm really upset as well. I don't ring people until about 10am either.

How do you know this person was pissing her off? I can almost bet it was someone drunk looking to have a bit of craic, I know I get urges to phone people at all hours to have a chat.

I wouldn't phone after about 10pm. I will phone after if I need to but generally, that is my cut off. Just like I don't expect anyone to call me after 10pm unless it is an emergency.
I would also not phone anyone before about 8.30am for the same reason.

i don't mind what time some people ring me but if it's a drunken lad who likes me and i don't like them i'm like fuck sake! makes me think they're a bit sad. but then if i like them i'm like aww!
it depends who i'm ringing..generally friends and family not after 10pm.
I couldn't not leave it on 24/7 - I'd hate to miss the final few minutes of a loved-ones life because I'd turned my phone off.
It is for this reason alone that my phone is NEVER switched off. That and, i honestly dont mind if someone calls me at x am [or pm] wanting to talk, my door is always open and so forth :)
Landline - i dont like to call after 9.30pm if they're not expecting the call
Mobile - anytime but it depends on the person and the reason im calling.
My phone like a lot of others is on pretty much 24/7 i only ever turn it off if ive got a really low battery and i'm likely to need my phone later on.
People waking me up in the early hours doesnt bother me in the slightest tbh, i quite like that people are thinking of me enough to call at that time

I am wary of calling before 9am or after 9pm.
I tend to (mildly) resent people calling before 8am or after 10
I am rude to people who call after 1am or before 6am

i would more than mildly resent someone that called me just after 6.
other than work what would anyone need to ring you about then, most people should be asleep or only just got up

Depends who it is. If it's my uncle then I'm unlikely to call him after about 6 because of the children. If it's anyone else, probably about 8 or 9pm.

I usually phone people when I'm drunk at silly o'clock.
I'm used to get woken up by people phoning my in hysterics at fuck knows what time, so it evens itself out I suppose.
